Take Metro to the Half Street Fairgrounds on April 25 for a fun-filled event featuring food trucks, music, games, free giveaways, and information on how you can save energy and money. Work with a professional to find the places you're losing energy in your home. Up to $1,800 in rebates are available to help seal and insulate the trouble spots a professional auditor finds in your home.

THE COOL KIDS ARE SAVING ENERGY

Langley Elementary School in Northeast DC reduced electricity use 30% in February to win $5,000 in the DC Green Schools Sprint to Savings contest run by the DC Department of General Services. Throughout the Sprint, the DCSEU worked with Langley Elementary and Anacostia High School to teach students, faculty, and staff how to reduce energy use. Anacostia High School finished as the top high school in the city with 12% savings! Read the full story.

PUTTING CAPITOL HILL IN A NEW LIGHT

Goodbye 60 Watt light bulbs, hello energy savings! The Hill Rag recently wrote about the phase out of the 60 Watt light bulb to inform residents how they can upgrade to energy-efficient CFLs for $0.99 and LEDs for as low as $4.99 with the DCSEU.
